For Sweater Club #28 - This time around we looked for quick designs that can be finished in just a few weeks, something suitable for warm weather and even something easy enough for new sweater knitters and crocheters. We think you'll like what we chose.
For the Knitters
The Sadie Sweater is a timeless classic featuring understated yet eye-catching details. It is constructed from the top down and shaped with German Short Rows to ensure a great fit. The sweater features a simple silhouette with rolled edges at the collar, hem, and cuffs. It is meant to be a versatile staple that pairs nicely in any wardrobe. Knit entirely on US 6 needles.
For the Crocheters:
The Bramble Top by Clare Blowers is an oversize short sleeve top featuring traditional granny cluster stripes. The design is worked in three alternating colors to give a unique striped effect. Work with subtle neutral to bright tones. Select your own combination of three solids for a custom look. Or, make use of self stripping yarns to have fewer ends to weave. Add mohair for a soft luxurious feel. Worked on a dk yarn with 3.5mm hook. The design is worked bottom up in two pieces and joined to create a finished neckline and cuffs.
Instructions are written in both US and UK crochet terminology and is sold on the designer's website via this link.
Yarn Selection
Both designs call for DK weight yarn. You can choose from any DK or combine fingering weight and mohair to create your own luxurios yarn. We really like the array of self-stripping yarns (wools, blends and mohair) we have in DK and lace weights for these projects. Come in and we'll help you find the perfect yarn for your sweater.
