*Sweater Club #23 June - July 2024

Join our Sweater Club #23 now! Our knitalongs meet-up in person and give everyone the encouragement to knit a sweater. We're here to help you along the way.

How this works

1) You choose which of the designs you want to make from our pre-selected list. 

When selecting the designs for Sweater Club, we consider knitting trends, techniques used, designer creativity, pattern reliability, and size inclusivity (bust 30" to at least 60"). We feel that the designs we pre-select are sure to please a wide range of people.

2) Sign-up here (select the design option) or in the shop. There is no cost to join.

3) Purchase your yarn at our shop.

4) Purchase your pattern on Ravelry or through our shop.

5) Join our weekly meet-ups for the community and knitting help along the way. 

Meet-ups: Sundays 11am-12noon; beginning June 16 and continuing each week through July 28. Meet-ups are optional so come when you can.

 We have open stitch nights every Wednesday from 5pm-7pm. That's also a good time to drop in for help with your sweater. 

The Designs

For Sweater Club #23 - we found these cute light-weight tops that will keep you engaged and you can finish in time for the hot summer months ahead of us.

For the Knitters:

Umbria Summer Top

The Umbria Summer Top is a cardigan style top that is worked top to down. First, the neck band is worked in rib. Then the yoke is worked in pattern back and forth with raglan increases while at the same time button bands are worked simultaneously. When the yoke is done, the sleeves are divided from the body and the body is worked with a few decreases. Then the sleeve is worked in the round and bound off with the same technique that is used for the body.

The Umbria Summer Top includes tubular cast on (we have a great tutorial for you), M1L, M1R increases, German short rows and Hiya Hiya Grandma’s Bind Off (use the Italian bind off if you prefer).

Marigold Tee: This top takes advantage of hand dyed yarn with its lace work between solid stockinette sections. You'll knit this side-to-side (sleeve to sleeve), changing needles in the lace sections (or not - knitters choice). Other techniques include picking up stitches, Italian Cast On and Bind Off (we can teach you both). Knitters have given this pattern lots of praise for the cute design and clear instructions. Suggested Gauge: 22 sts/32 rows in stockinette after blocking. Fingering weight yarn.

For the Crocheters:

Calad Shirt - The Calad shirt is made with heavy lace/light fingering weight yarn to create the soft and draping effect. It is designed to have a cropped length and loose fit. You will find customization options in the file to alter the shirt to your liking. The pattern covers sizes from XS to 5XL.

There are diagrams, step-by-step instructions with pictures and video tutorials for special techniques in the pattern to help you through the process. There is also a tester gallery with the data of the pattern testers as a reference for you to better understand the sizing and materials needed. The pattern is available in English with US terminology.
