*Sweater Club #21 Nov 2023/Jan 2024

Join our Sweater Club #21 now! Our knitalongs meet-up in person and give everyone the encouragement to knit a sweater. We're here to help you along the way.

How this works

1) You choose which of the designs you want to make from our pre-selected list.

When selecting the designs for Sweater Club, we consider knitting trends, techniques used, designer creativity, pattern reliability, and size inclusivity (bust 30" to at least 60"). We feel that the designs we pre-select are sure to please a wide range of knitters.

2) Sign-up here (select the design option) or in the shop. There is no cost to join.

3) Purchase your yarn at our shop.

4) Purchase your pattern on Ravelry or through our shop.

5) Join our weekly meet-ups for the community and knitting help along the way.

Meet-ups: Sundays 11am-12noon; beginning November 12 and continuing each week 11/19, 11/26, 12/3, 12/10, 12/17, 12/31, and  1/7.  Meet-ups are optional so come when you can.

The Designs

For Sweater Club #21 we kept in mind that cooler weather will be starting soon. With cooler days you'll want to make a sweater you can use in the fall as well as at the beginning of winter. With these bulkier yarn sweaters you can definitely finish a sweater in 6-8 weeks.

For the Knitters:

Match Cardigan: The Match Cardigan is a classic raglan style deep v neck cardigan. Another classic garment that will be a perfect addition to your wardrobe. It is constructed from the top down and it is worked flat and in the round (sleeves) in stockinette stitch. Cardigan features a neat raglan detail, afterthought style pockets and classic 2 x 2 rib along all edges. As an additional help, a few videos are included in the pattern. 20 to 25+ cm / 8” to 10”+ of positive ease is built in to the pattern, choose your size based on how much ease you prefer. Suggested Gauge: 12 sts/18 rows in stockinette after blocking. Bulky yarn.

Dunes Cardigan: The Dunes Cardigan is slightly cropped, a touch of lace on the body and sleeves, drop shoulder, deep v neck that buttons up at the front. It is a classic design with a modern twist. It will keep you cozy and in style during any season. It is designed to sit slightly longer than your waist line in length, but it can easily be made longer because it is constructed from the top down. First you will work the back section down to underarm, after that you will work the right shoulder then the left shoulder as well as the front to shape the v neck and the armholes, once those three sections are completed, work is joined and body is worked back and forth. A few videos are included in the pattern. The cardigan is worked flat and in the round (sleeves) in stockinette stitch until v neck is shaped, then lace stitches are incorporated in the body.  6” to 8” of positive ease is built in to the pattern, chose your size based on how much ease you prefer. Suggested Gauge: 15 sts/23 rows in stockinette after blocking. Aran to Bulky yarn.

Yarn Suggestions for Match Cardigan and Dunes Cardigan:  These designs have similar yarn weight requirements so our list of yarn suggestions work for both. Try out: Juniper Moon Beatrix, Firenze, Noro Rikka, 2 strands of Poema, Malabrigo Metcha, Malabrigo Chunky, Mochi + Mohair. Add mohair to a worsted or aran to get a fluffy fabric.

Arco Iris pullover:  (Arco Iris means Rainbow) This pullover is worked top-down .

In case you prefer a pullover or lighter weight yarn, we've added Arco Iris, a seamless, top down, fitted raglan sweater. Think of this one as almost a blank canvas where you can show off hand dyes, solid colors or mohair. The design features cable ribbing on the neckline, cuffs and bottom edges for an interesting touch. Suggested Gauge: 20 sts/29 rows in stockinette after blocking. DK yarn.

Yarn Suggestions for Arco Iris:   Kim Dyes Brioche DK, Manos del Uruguay Milo, Berroco Tiramisu. Or hold a hand dyed fingering weight with a strand of mohair for that lux look and feel.

For the Crocheters:

Nantucket Ribbed Cardigan: This knit-look cardigan is a wardrobe essential. Although it’s crocheted, the fabric mimics a knit fisherman’s rib, and the silhouette is as classic as it gets. The simplicity of the design is refined with shaped shoulders, symmetric short row shaping at the center front, and a sleek button band to polish it all off. The Nantucket Cardigan is worked flat, side to side, in pieces, and seamed. Turn at the end of each row. Short rows are used to shape center fronts. Sl sts are worked along the bottom 12 sts of right side rows of body pieces and along the bottom 8 sts of both right and wrong side rows of sleeves to taper and cinch bottom hem and cuffs. It can be helpful to place a marker on the right side of the fabric to easily identify it. We are excited to see more fun crochet sweaters out there. The pattern instructions are well written, easy to understand and include stitch counts at every section. Suitable for confident beginnners.  Worsted weight yarn.

Nantucket Cardigan Yarn Suggestions: Our top picks are Malabrigo Rios, Berroco Vintage, Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok. Work with any of these yarns by itself or add a strand of mohair for extra luxury!
