*Sweater Club #18 February/March 2023

Join our Sweater Club #18 now! Our knitalongs meetup in person and give everyone the encouragement to knit a sweater.

How this works

1) We've selected two sweater designs to knit. You choose which of the designs you want to make. Lots of people have asked us to include colorwork in this next Sweater Club so we relied on favorite and reliable designers to find the perfect sweaters. It was a tough decision. Our finalists are: Pink Velvet by Andrea Mowry and Chauncey by Isabell Kraemer.

2) Sign-up here (select the design option) or in the shop. There is no cost to join.

3) Purchase your yarn at our shop.

4) Join our weekly meetups for the community and knitting help along the way. Sundays, 11am-12noon February 5-March 12. Meetups are optional so come when you can.

The Designs

Pink Velvet: This top down design is easy to modify in so many ways. The designer encourages you to try on this sweater as you go to ensure you like the depth of the yoke before moving on to the body. Customize your sweater with body length and short, 3/4 or long sleeves. Plan on 0"-2" of ease. The variety of techniques included in the well written pattern are short rows, optional tubular cast on and bind off and colorwork chart.

Chauncey: This sweater is worked seamlessly from the top down. First some short-rows are worked back and forth to create a higher back neck and then the round-yoke is worked top down to sleeve separation. Pattern directions are clearly written and include a chart for the colorwork section.  Some last short-rows are worked to finish the yoke shaping right before sleeve stitches are placed on hold, then the body is worked in rounds down to the hem. Sleeves are worked top down to the cuffs last. It's easy to customize your sweater with body length and short, 3/4 or long sleeves. Plan on 4"-5" of ease.

Yarn Suggestions: Both designs are knit with fingering weight yarn so you have lots of choices in the shop. Take a look at Manos del Uruguay Alegria, Blue Sky Fibers Woolstok Light, Laneras Secretos, Malabrigo Sock or Mechita for inspiration. Add mohair for fun!
